In my last journal, I've drawn some attention to Dotsies http://dotsies.org/, a font that makes use of 5-bit binary array. Text written that way takes much less space, &c. What really got me in the idea is the script version. Let's consider alternative reality where dotsies, once invented, gained popularity and acknowledgement. Now, we have to somehow merge the system into our world. I did it through analogy. Let's compare Latin script and Dotsies. Recently I've begun to notice that while telling stories, creators pay more attention to building the world their story is set in - and those who read these stories are more interested in settings and backgrounds. World-building makes a brilliant space for creativity. Just ask yourself a kind of what-if question, that's a good point to start from. Starting from alternate history, through trying adapting something you already know to another genre. Your own geography and culture. And the list goes on and on. Customs. Mapmaking. As you can see in my profile, I'm not from the United States. You'd say, "so what?" Because closed door. That's what. I was going to give a try in Equestria Daily logo contest, hosted by Welovefine. Yeah, my entry would not be masterpiece, but that's not the case. It's always good thing to check out the comments first, and what do I see? You must be an US resident to participate! Well, the whole evening is wasted. Oh come on, what's making the rest worse? Especially given that the whole thing revolves around an =international= fandom.
